Microsoft Acquires GitHub
In case you haven’t heard…
and no, this isn’t about an update to our privacy policy…
Microsoft has acquired GitHub for $7.5 Billion in a deal that will be finalized by the end of the year.
There was a time many years ago where I would have been more worried about this type of deal made by a company that was very closed source. However, since those days long ago it seems that Microsoft has embraced the benefits of open sourcing. In the blog announcing this deal, it is mentioned that Microsoft is the most active organization on GitHub. I think we can be rest-assured that Microsoft isn’t acquiring GitHub for $7.5 Billion in order to dismantle it — intentionally, anyway!
